The Alchemy Ablanathanalba (Ablanaθanalba) is named for the Greek ‘magic word’, and aims to be the most traditional take on a humbucking pickup that is versatile enough to be suited to almost any genre. The AlNiCo IV magnets give both positions plenty of gain and mid-punch, without allowing the bass to become too fat for higher gain applications, or the treble too shrill for cleaner sounds. The lower wind of the neck allows for a very open sound, and plenty of clarity in the mids, where the vintage hot wind in the bridge smooths the inherent treble slightly, and focuses the bass for riffing and palm-muted styles, while not being so overwound as to choke the natural harmonics of the instrument or over-compress the mids. Drives an amplifier hard naturally, but handles high gain very well without losing clarity, for a ballsy and articulate sound suitable for blues through to a fat metal tone, and everything in between.
